As the online description says this is not merely about exercise and the asanas. It goes into detail about developing a solid personal practice, although it does present this at a more intermediate level.

Jan 18, Coleen rated it it was amazing. The translation and commentary of the Yoga Sutras at the end is SO much more edifying and easier to comprehend than the version by Swami Satchidananda, so if you have to read that, read this one first.

Desikachar is also very dynamic in his presentations of the information with Q and A responses in some places, drawings that provide immense clarity, dessikachar progression of concept from beginning to end.

New students would find certain segments would set a good foundation for the new practise, including the need to for the mind-breath-body connection without which no matter how strong or flexible you are, you are not doing yoga. Wonderful food for thought. Desikachar, the son of Krishnmacharya, it strikes a perfect desikacahr where you feel like your teacher is beside you guiding you along your goga.
